THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE SEVEN
SACRAMENTS |
After Jesus ascended into
Heaven, He fulfilled His promise to send the Holy Spirit to guide His
Church. On the first Pentecost He sent the Holy Spirit to the Apostles.
The Catholic Church came into existance at the death of Jesus on the
Cross. The Church was made manifest to the world on the first Pentecost
when the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and became changed
men. No longer afraid or timid, they went forth to the whole world to
spread the teachings of Jesus and bring people into the True Church
by Baptism. When anyone is baptized they receive the Three Theological
Virtues, the Four Moral Virtues and Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
They become 'new persons', anxious and able to spread the Kingdom of
God. It was felt that this stained glass window carries this message
to those who behold it. |
