THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED MOTHER

This is the Patronal Feast of our Parish. After World War II people became very worldly. They had denied themselves some things in the 'war effort' and now that the war was over they were going to have what they had denied themselves. The fervent prayers during the war for victory became the temptation to "live it up". By proclaiming the doctrine of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother, Pope Pius XII reminded us of our own goal of Heaven. Since Mary is the Queen of Heaven, she wants us, her children, to be in Heaven with Her. This must be the goal of our life, to use the material things of this world in such a way as to win Heaven for ourselves as Mary did.
